According to WION, a viral rumor is going around that a woman on a Delta flight to Atlanta was allegedly breastfeeding her cat.
Fellow passengers reportedly watched in horror, and that was probably all they could do.
I mean, what would you do? What would I do? I have no idea — double-take and blink, probably.
This Is Still A Viral Rumor
Now, the fact that this story is still a viral rumor can mean anything, or nothing. But if it’s something, then this is reportedly what happened.
Apparently, the rumor is based on the pilot’s message to the ground team that leaked — no pun intended.
According to WION, the crew attempted to put a stop to the… feeding. They even brought the woman messages from the pilot asking for her to stop.
This whole sordid affair allegedly took place on Delta Air flight DL1360 to Atlanta.
The Woman Refused To Stop Breastfeeding Her Cat
Despite these pleas from the flight crew and the pilot, the woman refused to stop breastfeeding her cat. It’s assumed that this was an emotional support animal, but there’s no mention of the woman having any official certification.
When she refused to put the cat back into their carrier, the pilot was forced to inform the airport police, Delta’s Redcoats.
For some reason, the fact that they have a name like that kind of surprised me. It sounds like something from an Austin Powers movie, but so does this whole thing.
The Redcoats were informed about the situation and instructed to take the woman into some form of custody once the plane landed.
“Req Redcoat meet AC Pax (passenger) in (seat) 13A is breastfeeding a cat and will not put the cat back in its carrier when FA (flight attendant) requested,” says the Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System’s message.
That’s the very message that apparently leaked online and went viral.
Delta reports that there has been an 84 percent increase in incidents relating to emotional support animals over the past few years. However, somehow we doubt that breastfeeding a cat has ever been among them before.
