1. Why cats take your spot
Cats often try to sit in your spot because you tend to leave behind the scent and warmth from your body.
Cats prefer warm places and will crowd around you to absorb your body heat.
Domestic cats also enjoy being close to their owners because the scent makes them feel safe and comfortable.
2. Why do some cats meow a lot?
If your cat meows often, there may be several reasons for this behavior.
Excessive vocalization is often a way for your pet to get attention.
Many cats learn to meow to signal their wish to go outside, be fed, initiate play, or even get you to talk to them.
Stressed cats tend to vocalize more than usual.
A new pet or baby, a house move, or big changes to the home environment can turn your cat into an over-vocalizer. Other reasons for this include loneliness and separation anxiety.
3. Dilated Eyes
Cats’ pupils are known to dilate and contract in response to light, as well as certain emotions.
By dilating their pupils, cats allow even tiny amounts of light into their eyes so they can see better in the day and dark.
Interestingly enough, pupil size can also be an indication of your pet’s mood.
Your cat could be stressed, anxious, excited, or in fear.
In situations that produce enjoyment, like when they’ve just eaten their favorite food, they may exhibit the “dilated pupils” reflex.
4. Why do cats often sleep with their faces covered?
It is common for cats to cover their faces while they sleep in order to keep warm.
By covering their faces with their paws or curling up tightly into a ball, your feline friend can reduce the amount of heat that is lost as they sleep.
Cats also cover their eyes when they sleep to block out unwanted light.
5. Why do cats arch their backs when you pet them?
If you stroke a cat at the base of its tail, it will usually stick its butt in the air.
The base of a cat’s tail is an erogenous zone with lots of nerve endings.
Many cats enjoy having their backs and heads stroked by a person they trust.
